59 WINTER/SPRING 2018 Jennifer Tucker, 06A Jennifer Kumari Adams-Tucker, 06A, is a woman of many wonderful and inspiring achievements, with one of her most recent being her induction into the 2017 Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame. Inspired by her three children, who were diagnosed with autism, Adams-Tucker sought to encourage an understand- ing and helpful learning environment for all students who benefit from personal instruction. A member of FEAT (Families for Effective Autism Treatment), and later a board member of Exceptional Teens and Adults, Adams-Tucker was appointed to the Kentucky Early Interaction System Inter- agency Coordinating Council. She is a personal advocate of the effec- tiveness of these programs, as her own children have found their paths to personal success through their encouragement and teaching. Besides the roles of board member and mother, Adams-Tucker also is an author of a book titled "Autistic Angels, A Story for a Mother to Her Children." She also volunteers at local libraries, where she seeks to advise other parents of autistic children in every way she can. As a light for autism in Kentucky, we are proud to recognize Adams-Tucker as an alumna who is making an impact. From Raise Some L, UofL's annual Day of Giv- ing, to the UofL Bucket List, the Student Organization for Alumni Relations (SOAR) reaches out with open hands and hearts to Cards of the past and the present. At their bi-weekly meetings, they have planned and implemented events and programs for both current and future alumni such as the SAB & SOAR Homecoming Lip Sync Battle, the Wilson Wyatt Alumni Awards, Legacy Day and the #ThanksforGiving event bringing the Thanksgiving spirit to recent donors through thank you notes. In the future, be on the lookout for opportunities to get involved, as they plan on shaking things up and spreading their wings to bring more Cards to their team!
