50 UOFLMAGAZINE.COM I hope your 2018 is off to a great start. This winter and spring, I have had a chance to reflect on the rich history of both the university and our alumni association. Together we — students, graduates, faculty, staff and fans — help shape Uof L. The Louisville Alumni network has specif- ically celebrated several key achievements I would like to share. Our network continues to grow with the establishment of five new alumni councils (School of Music, Ophthalmology, Dental Hygiene, Women's and International Student Alumni Councils) and three new regional chapters (Charleston, Pensacola and Salt Lake City). We hosted our most successful Day of Giving to date, bringing in over 1,200 gifts and commitments for a total of $236,573. Each dollar raised will go to work immediately, impacting over 100 areas of campus. Just this month, chapter and council leaders attended our annual Alumni Leadership Conference. This is one of my favorite events as we get to interact with our loyal alumni who are committed to grow- ing their respective groups. These volunteers truly encompass all Uof L stands for on a daily basis. Uof L students are the heartbeat of our institution. Our very own Student Organization for Alumni Relations (SOAR) launched its first annual TAG (Teaching Annual Giving) Day. Members helped educate students by posting "tags" on items and buildings that would not be possible with- out the financial support of our donors. As our Louisville Alumni family grows with each commencement, these students will help continue our rich traditions. Together our Cardinal family is strong, united in the bond of our alma mater. We will make 2018 incredible; the best truly is yet to come. Our staff is constantly at work on your behalf to facili- tate and grow your Cardinal connections. I look forward to engaging with you and please let me know if I can help in any way. #WeAreUof L Go Cards!
