29 WINTER/SPRING 2018 Marian Vasser has been a UofL employee for 24 years, serving many roles before finding her true calling in 2016 as director of diversity education and inclusive excellence. She since has conducted nearly 300 work- shops on campus and with community organiza- tions including JCPS, the Center for Women and Families, UPS, Humana and more. Also, two years ago she started a social justice camp on campus. She does all of this while single par- enting three boys. "I know this world is not designed to benefit my boys, so I do what I have to do to close that gap as much as I can," Vasser said. "The beautiful thing is I love the work that I'm doing. But if I had it my way, this climate would be such that this position isn't necessary. I love doing this work, but I will not be satisfied until the need for doing this work is over."
