After college, he borrowed a few thousand dollars and started Power Graphics (now called Power), one of the largest marketing agencies in the region. Mike Power never forgot how he got his start, and gave back to Hite's graphic design program throughout his career. Power furnished the design program's first computer lab in the early 2000s. In 2005, the agency began underwriting the Power Designer-in- Residence, a full-time faculty position, which they have continued to support since. Upon his death two years ago, Mike Power continued his legacy by bequeathing money for an endowed scholarship, a visiting de- signer lecture program and an award to the outstanding senior in graphic design. His son, David Power, pictured, who holds a BS in business from UofL and is now CEO of Power, is proud to honor his father's commitment. "Hite is very important to the creative community in Louisville," he said. "It's very important to our business. We get an opportunity to hire the best and the bright- est from the program."
