Your Navy needs you Participants in the U.S. Navy's V-12 program work in UofL's histology lab in 1943. The V-12 program was designed to hasten training of naval offi cers — including doctors, dentists, engineers and chaplains — during World War II. From 1943 to 1946 more than 125,000 participants enrolled at 131 colleges and universities across the country. UofL hosted about 900 participants in V-12 classes in the schools of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Medicine and Dentistry.
