Political science professor Dewey Clayton's availability, sense of responsibility and efforts to help students and the public distill national, state and local issues won him the American Political Science Association's highest 2016 honor, its Distinguished Teaching Award. A College of Arts and Sciences faculty member since 1994, Clayton incorporates role-playing to encourage different perspectives into his courses on political discourse, American government, and race, law and politics. "I do think part of the education process is learning how to live together and get along," he said.
