Dr. Stefanie Bumpus, 05A
Dr. Stefanie Bumpus, 05A, spends her career keeping the
world healthy. As special assistant to the director at the
U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in
Atlanta, Georgia, she supports the CDC director in the
areas of global health, infectious diseases, the Global
Health Security Agenda, and international emergency
responses. Her previous roles include public health analyst
at the CDC and AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow
for the Department of Defense.
During her time at the CDC and DOD, Bumpus traveled
extensively in Africa, Asia and Europe to work directly
with host countries, U.S. government staff and partner
organizations on global health security. "These experiences
in the f eld have been the highlight of my career so far," she
explained. Outside of work, she is active in UofL alumni
activities. Originally part of the chapter in Washington,
D.C., she now is part of the leadership team for the Atlanta
chapter. "My involvement in the Atlanta chapter has been
a wonderful opportunity to meet other alumni, support
university events in the area, and cheer on the Cardinals
with other fans!"
