The Ville Grill located at Third and Brandeis is the newest dining option on campus. It earned its moniker through a contest in which students voted on their favorite name. "It's exciting to watch this university grow, to see the building of campus life. When I was there, as soon as your classes were over you were gone; there was no place to hang out on campus. It was almost spooky being there. Now, it's so full of life. I almost wish I was back there doing it all over again." center between Kurz and Minardi Halls in 2013. The 128,000-square-foot addition will unify an area that has sprouted many dorms and fraternity and sorority houses in the past fi ve years. Alumni have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support living and activity space for UofL's thriving Greek system, which will encompass 30 sorority and fraternity chapters by January. Several chapters have received national awards of excellence from their affi liated organizations, and two years ago the university's Panhel- lenic Council was named the nation's best. Contributing 30,000 hours of community service to metro Louisville 22|LOUISVILLE.EDU each year, the fraternities and sororities also help attract students to UofL. "We have noticed a real increase in people from out of state joining Greek organizations," said Joni Burke, assistant director of student life and Greek adviser. "With all the social media opportunities, a lot of students are certainly more knowledgeable about what's going on. I think they have an expectation that UofL will have a vibrant campus life that they can plug into and one of those is the Greek community." Farther along Third Street, UofL recently renovated the roadway, lighting, steps and landscaping surrounding The Oval in front of Grawemeyer Hall and also plans to restore "The Thinker" statue, which is the fi rst cast of Rodin's famous bronze. The safety and beautifi cation project was funded entirely by a federal grant and was designed to refl ect the vision of parks designer Frederick Law Olmsted. Continuing to the southernmost part of campus, changes at UofL's J.B. Speed School of Engineering have signifi cantly enhanced engineering students' experiences. Improvements to traffi c patterns, signage and walkways along Eastern Parkway and Third Street have made
