Diggs, 55A, published "Breaking the Cycle: How Schools Can Overcome Urban Challenges." It explores a culture of inner-city teens, describing how, with the help of good schools, they can achieve the American dream. Jan Seale, 60A, published "The Parkinson Poems." With grit, humor, and compassion, Seale spells out the vicissitudes of dealing with Parkinson's, the so-far-incurable neurological condition affecting seven million people. Richard Stansberry, 76B, wrote "Danny Turner: The Deuce Goose: A Baseball Fantasy about the St. Louis Cardinals and the 1926 World Series." The book was written for a local police K9 offi cer, and all proceeds go to West Ga. Police K9 operations and the Carroll County Animal Shelter. Paul M, Hornback, 77S, 96GS, published his fi rst book, entitled "God Still Remembers Me." It is the fi rst devotional book written for and by an Alzheimer's patient who under- stands all they are going through. Hornback has early onset Alzheimer's disease. Jeff Nasser, 85A, 89L, published "It's About Time: An (Almost) Complete List of Time Jokes." This is his fi rst written and published book using time as the basis for humor. Other joke books will follow on baseball, football, and general subjects. Leesa Cross-Smith's, 02A, short story collection "Every Kiss a War," was a fi nalist for the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction and the Iowa Short Fiction Award, and won Editor's Choice in the Raymond Carver Short Story Contest. Leesa lives in Kentucky with her husband and two children. Jeff Hardesty, 04A, published "The Stork of Course," about three Seattle couples strug- gling with infertility, expensive treatments, and a lack of a surrogate mother. War-torn and weary from a long year of challenges, the couples must fi ght to save their family and the country from a devastating fate. Joseph Cox, 05L, coauthored "Fightin' Words," a book about the UK vs. UofL rivalry. Jennifer K. Adams-Tucker, 06A, has published her second book, titled "Up To Bat." It is a children's book with illustrations by her husband, Darryl Tucker, AC, and her 13-year- old daughter, Sydney Tucker. Tytianna N.M. Wells Smith, 09A, 12GA, an African American Alumni Council scholarship recipient, published a children's book, "Sweet Pea & Sugar Tea's Country Family Adventures, Volume 1," an enjoyable collection of poetry that paints a timeless portrait of the Berry family. Written in rhyme and delivered in a southern dialect, this book is a celebration of a family whose hopes and dreams are as rooted as their family tree. Tiffany Robinson, 10GP, recently released her book, "Zoe's Sidewalk," inspired by a group of children she worked with during her graduate studies.
