It's not science f ction, it's science fact.
UofL is home to one of the world's leading
3D printing/additive manufacturing
laboratories at the J.B. Speed School of
Engineering. The Rapid Prototyping Center
(RPC) creates amazing 3D pieces with the
MakerBot Replicator 2x printer, shown here.
Entrepreneurs and large corporations, such
as GE and Boeing, rely on the RPC for a
variety of advanced 3D prototyping needs,
from the MakerBot Replicator 2X to more
advanced industrial 3D printing/additive
manufacturing equipment. A 3D model
of a human heart, crafted of NinjaFlex
material, recently allowed heart surgeons
to detail a surgical procedure using the
model which felt similar in texture and
f exibility to an actual heart. Learn more
