Highlights Alumni Spotlight Ernie Allen, 72L Children's Champion – Ernie Allen After leaving his post last year as the founding chairman, president and CEO of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Ernie Allen, 68A, 72L, did not fade away into a quiet retirement. He continues to serve as president and CEO of a sister organization that he co-founded, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC). The ICMEC works to combat child abduction, sexual abuse and exploitation on an international scale. "Today, more missing children come home safely and more offenders who prey upon children are brought to justice than ever before," said Allen. "However, children are abducted at alarming rates internationally." At least eight million children will disappear this year. In honor of his work, Allen recently received the prestigious "Voice for Women Award" at the Sandra Day O'Connor Awards. He is the frst male to receive the award, joining the ranks of Madeleine Albright, Marian Wright Edelman, Billie Jean King, Sally Ride and others. 56|LOUISVILLE.EDU
