Families may submit information by email to alumni@louisville.edu. Helen Cloud Austin, 48MC, 53GK, was the second African-American student to graduate from the University of Louisville's Raymond A. Kent School of Social Work in 1953, and she was an Alumni Fellow for the Kent School of Social Work in 2002. She passed away Feb. 22, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas. In 1962, Austin was denied employment at the San Antonio State Hospital for a social work position due to segregation laws, and she continued to be denied positions for more than two years due to her skin color. In 1965, she was hired as the f rst African-American professional at the San Antonio State Hospital. Within 10 years she was appointed chief of the social services department and remained in this position until retirement in 1987. Austin's accomplishments were formally recognized in 1983 when she was declared both San Antonio Social Worker of the Year and Texas State Social Worker of the year. In 1984, she was honored as the nation's Social Worker of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers, making her the f rst to receive all three awards. U.S. Congressman Henry B. Gonzalez accompanied Austin to the ceremony and read a tribute to her in Congress, which is published in the Congressional Record of June 11, 1984. Joe R. Trabue, Jr., 50A, graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He played football at UofL from 1946–1949, was a part of the 1947 undefeated team and is a member of the UofL Hall of Fame. Not only was Trabue an excellent athlete at UofL, but he also was a dedicated professor. He retired from UofL after teaching for 38 years. Trabue was a member of South Louisville Christian Church, the Glasgow-Barren Co. Hall of Fame, the UofL Coffee Club and the UofL Alumni Association. Trabue was a devoted member of the community and of the university. He passed away Jan. 16, 2016, at the age of 90, at the Parkway Nursing and Rehab Center. Marlow Webster Cook, 50L, a Louis D. Brandeis School of Law graduate, passed away Feb. 4, 2016, in Sarasota, Florida. His career as a lawyer included serving in the Kentucky House of Representatives, as Jefferson County Judge, in the U.S. Senate and as an international corporate lawyer in Washington, D.C. Cook was dedicated to public service and helped enact many political and social changes throughout his career. During his six years in the Senate, he advocated the Equal Rights Amendment and successfully led the conf rmation of two Supreme Court justices. Cook is remembered as a man of generosity, principle and kindness. George O. Worland, 56B, graduated from UofL with a bachelor's degree in 1956. Worland peacefully passed away at age 96 on Jan. 4, 2016. Worland was dedicated to service. He was a founding member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus Assumption Council 4473. Originally from Evansville, Indiana, Worland was an avid UofL Cards fan, and he loved to travel. He was a season ticket holder for basketball and football until he physically couldn't make it to the games, but he continued to watch on T V. In 2006, he was very proud to be inducted into the UL Golden Alumni Society. Worland also was a World War II Army Veteran who served in the European theater. He worked as a plant controller for Reynolds Metals for 31 years before retiring. He also was employed by Churchill Downs as a pari-mutuel clerk. 1930s Selma S. Rosen, 34A Arthur C.
