Alumni Spotlight Ben Sollee, 06M
Music maker
Kentucky-born cellist, singer-songwriter and
composer Ben Sollee, 06M, is anything but
conventional. Composing music for stage and
screen at home and abroad, Sollee is known
for his innovative playing style, genre-bending
songwriting, electrifying performances, as
well as political and environmental activism.
Sollee embarked this year on a tour with
Mother Falcon, an indie orchestra group
out of Austin, and he has a full list of tour
dates throughout the spring and summer.
In addition to his tour with Mother Falcon,
he has a full list of tour dates this summer.
Sollee recently partnered with Woodpenny
Games to create a virtual reality app call
"The Vanishing Point," he created the score
for the production of StageOne's "Harold and
the Purple Crayon," and he helped create a
massive eco-art and tech installation called
"Livestream" in partnership with the design
group Public Works Collaborative.
On a beautiful April day, Sollee stopped by this fi eld in Louisville for an impromptu performance of Coldplay's "Yellow."
