GLOBAL HEALTH INSTITUTE GLOBAL HEALTH FAIR REFUGEE HEALTH IMMUNIZATION (RHI) PROGRAM THE BRANDEIS HUMAN RIGHTS ADVOCACY PROGRAM (HRAP) The Brandeis Human Rights Advocacy Program funds student fellows for each of their three years in law school. The HRAP has published various materials for the community, such as a comprehensive resource guide identifying all of the organizations that serve the refugee community and a comprehensive needs assessment identifying unmet needs, challenges and opportunities to serve the community better. SURVIVORS OF TORTURE RECOVERY CENTER Established in 2012, through funding from the U.S. Off ce of Refugee Resettlement, the Kent School of Social Work's Survivors of Torture Recovery Center provides comprehensive services and benef ts to refugees who underwent physical and mental torture in their home countries. 3,611 refugees screened for torture & health in conjunction with and by partner agencies: Local Metro Louisville Community Health Centers, UofL Infectious Diseases Clinic, Kentucky Refugee Ministries, Catholic Charities, Kentucky Offi ce of Refugees, Americana Community Center 750 refugees self-reported being either a primary or secondary survivor of torture, which translates into a 21% torture prevalence rate. unique, individual survivors of torture served 203 245 medical, mental health, legal and social service professionals trained. 22 residents and fellows, 310 students, 28 support staff and 16 researchers have participated, including representatives from the College of Business, J. B. Speed School of Engineering, College of Arts & Sciences and the College of Education & Human Development. More than 40 faculty participants from the School of Nursing, School of Medicine and the School of Public Health and Information Sciences. As of 2015, more than 22,000 doses of vaccine have been provided to more than 6,000 refugees. 3 Masters of Public Health students organized the event 10 nursing students participated by hosting health information booths 12 medical students conducted screenings and health risk assessments MORE THAN 250 refugees participated The UofL Global Health Institute partnered with Kentucky Refugee Ministries to organize its f rst-ever Global Health Fair in March 2016. The fair utilized departments throughout the university along with local community stakeholders involved in refugee care. Current plans call for a semi-annual schedule with host locations rotated between two local resettlement agencies. The Refugee Health Immunization (RHI) program was created in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the School of Medicine in 2012. With funding aided by the Off ce of Refugee Resettlement and administered by Catholic Charities, UofL structured a program to assess the health status of newly arriving refugees to Kentucky.
