Strong and steady
A member of UofL's men's gymnastics team performs
on the rings during a January 1969 practice session at
Crawford Gym. The gymnasium opened in 1964 on
Belknap Campus and is named after university benefactor
Matthew H. Crawford. Over the years, the facility housed
athletic off ces and was used by students, faculty and staff
for physical education classes and intramural sports. It also
served as the home of UofL athletic teams, including the
national champion 1980 and 1986 men's basketball teams.
The facility soon will be replaced with a state-of-the-art
academic building. For more information, see page 14.
