Richard Dennis Mangum, 84E, a n d and Tim Kelly, 01E, 02GE, t o o k a took a h u m a n i t a r i a n t r i p t o S o u t h w e s t e r n C h i n a w h e r e humanitarian trip to Southwestern China where t h e y i n s t a l l e d f v e w a t e r p u r i f c a t i o n s y s t e m s i n they installed f ve water purif cation systems in f v e d i f f e r e n t e l e m e n t a r y a n d m i d d l e s c h o o l s . f ve different elementary and middle schools. 1960s Richard Gold, 60MD, retired UCLA professor of Radiological Sciences, received the fi rst annual 2014-15 Carole E. Goldberg Academic Award and still contributes to his department and the fi eld. The Frankfort Regional Medical Center named its Wound Care Center after Willis P. McKee, Jr., 63MD, in recognition of his role in founding the center and being the fi rst medical director. Abigail Hoertz Johnson, 66BU, founded the Historic SW Rutland, Vermont community association as part of the city's urban neighborhood revitalization work. Lowell D. Katz, 68A, 72MD, 76MR, received the 2015 Samuel Gross, MD Career of Service Award, honoring physicians who have dedicated their lives to medicine. 1970s Teena Robinson Halbig, 72A, received the national United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA) "2015 Well-Worn Advocate Award" for her advocacy. Patrick J. Withrow, 76MD, received the Honorable Maestro award, one of the highest statewide awards given to cardiologists, from the Kentucky chapter of the American College of Cardiology. Karen Spears, 79A, retired in May 2015, after more than 28 years as a professor in the Department of Art & Design at Eastern Kentucky University. 1980s David A. George, 82MU, a pianist from Louisville, performed on stage at the Papal Mass in Philadelphia for the pope's fi nal day in the United States. Denise Glaser Malloy, 82E, 86GE, 93L was appointed assistant dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Development at Montana State University. Bruce Lindsay, 83GB, recently merged his wealth management practice with Lamkin Wealth Management in Louisville. The U.S. Polo Association appointed Duncan Huyler, 87GB, chief executive offi cer in a unanimous decision. Stephen C. Hall, 88A, was appointed vice chair of the patent litigation subcommittee of the Defense Research Institute's intellectual property litigation section by Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, LLP. Ellen Birkett Morris, 88A, won Shenandoah's 2015 Bevel Summers Contest for the short story "May Apples." Frederick Staly, 88SP, 91GJA, retired as undersheriff at Flagler County Sheriff's Offi ce in Palm Coast, Florida, after serving in public safety for 40 years. Robert Harding, 89A, 01GA, is associate professor and head of the Department of Political Science at Valdosta State University in Georgia. Thomas W. Page, 89L, was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America © 2016 in the fi eld of Workers' Compensation Law – Employers. 1990s Rehabilitation Services for Baptist Health Paducah named Lee Ann Morse, 90AH, director. Ted A. Gocke Jr., 91ED, a morning show announcer at J103 in Chattanooga, was voted best radio announcer in the Chattanooga Times Free Press 2015 Best of the Best readers' survey. Edlisa Embry Lessig, 94A, 14E, received the director of operations & development position at the National Air and Space Education Institute. Joseph "Jody" L. Bailey Jr., 95E, 97GE, joined the University of New Orleans Privateers men's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach. Previously, Bailey spent fi ve seasons at Jacksonville College as both head men's basketball coach and assistant athletics director. Mark Loyd, 96GB, 01L, received the Institute for Professionals in Taxation's new member achievement award in recognition for his contributions as a new member, committed stewardship, leadership and service in the state and local tax area. The Atherton High School Hall of Fame inducted four alumni into its 2015 class: Preya Ananthakrishnan, 95S, 00MD; Scott L. Hoffman, AC; Marlene G. Mitchell, 52A, 69GE; and the late Richard Nash, Jr., 71L.
