Donor Spotlight Barone Family
Inspired to give — the Barone family
When UofL College of Business Professor Michael Barone and his wife, Geneva, had nowhere
else to turn for their son Noah's health care, they found they could turn to the UofL Department
of Pediatrics. Noah has a rare brain disorder, an inf ammatory pseudotumor, and Salvatore
Bertolone Jr., MD, found the successful drug regimen that is helping Noah improve. Noah's success
as Bertolone's patient inspired the family to give back. With an initial gift of $10,000, the Barones
established the "Noah and Dr. B Fund" to help families with expenses that are not associated with
treatment but are just as necessary. Donors are requested to help the fund reach its $50,000 goal
by donating on the Noah and Dr. B page on GoFundMe.com. "The care I have received there has
made me want to help other kids at the clinic and their families deal with their diseases," Noah said.
