The winter is coming to an end, the days are getting longer, and on the academic calendar we approach the end of another wonderful year in the life of the university. This spring we will be hosting the Golden Alumni Reunion to celebrate those who graduated 50 years ago. In the spring of 1964, Barry Goldwater was running for president, the Civil Rights Act was working its way through Congress to eventually become law, and The Beatles were just beginning their rise to stardom in the United States. It was also a big year for Kentucky exports, as Congress off cially recognized bourbon as a "distinctive product of the United States," and Muhammad Ali beat Sonny Liston to be crowned the heavyweight champion of the world! It is amazing to think about how things have changed in the last 50 years, and also to consider the things that have stayed the same. On the weekend of May 8–10, we look forward to welcoming the Class of 1964 back to campus to reminisce about times past and celebrate the progress at UofL. Of course, there will be plenty of time to catch up and f nd out what classmates have been doing for the past f ve decades. Five decades is a long time, and it is too long to stay away. We have a growing reunion program at UofL, with an increased effort to bring alumni together every f ve years. This year we have already hosted the Schools of Medicine and Law, and will soon celebrate reunions in the School of Dentistry for every class that graduated in a year ending in 4 or 9. To f nd out if there are any reunions planned for your class, or to learn about how to get involved in the planning process, visit UofLalumni.org/events. Stay connected to your classmates and your campus. Whether you live in Louisville or across the globe, be sure to keep in touch and visit us whenever you're in the area. Come home soon, come home often. And don't miss out on your special class reunion! Cards fans f ocked to the UofL Alumni Association's UofL vs. UK game-watch party outside the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium before heading to the bowl game. Thousands more fans gathered to root, root, root for all their favorite Cards teams. Jane (left) and Dr. James Ramsey (right) displayed their festive mood.
