E D U Linda Smith Krill, 82DMD, received the Mar- vin Fisk Humani- tarian Award for her dedication to community volunteer programs and locally serves on the Access to Dental Care Committee. Daniel Sutherland, 82A, was appointed as associate general counsel at the Depart- ment of Homeland Security, where he is the primary legal adviser to the undersecretary for the National Protection and Programs Directorate. Jim Brammell, 88GB, has been named president and CEO of Louisville Water Co. (LWC.) Brammell has been with LWC. since 1995 and previously served as vice president of op- erations and chief engineer. He had an 11-year career with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. J.P. Davis, 89A, owns JPMortgage Co. after a career of more than 12 years with the Louisville Water Co. He is married to Julie Davis, 92B; they have two children, Allie and Ashley. Crystal Collins Spencer, 85L, will serve as the immediate past chairman of the American Heart Association, Greater Southeast Affi liate Board of Directors. A veteran in the local legal commu- nity, Spencer is an attorney with Spencer Law, P.A., and specializes in the defense of medical mal- practice and personal injury. John J. Wernert, 85MD, was selected to become the ISMA's president-elect. He is board certifi ed in adult and geriatric psychiatry, and will assume presidency of the 7,900-physician-member He was chosen because of his strong commitment to member- ship development. Larry Thiene- man, 73S, received his 30-year pin for time with Fluor Corp. working on projects around the world. He is Fluor's site manager on the small-cap projects under a new fi ve-year enabling agreement with ExxonMobil. Frank Gitschier, 74A, retired after working more than 34 years in the Legislative Fiscal Offi ce in Montgomery, Ala., and the last 25 as the fi scal offi cer for the Alabama House of Representatives. Cynthia Collier, 76A, is now the CEO and president of Mister "P" Express, Inc. J. Gregory Cooper, 78MD, received the Distinguished Service Award at the 2013 Kentucky Medical Association annual meeting. Sherry L. Hall, 79A, 81A, was named senior manager, agile program manager, for Cognizant Technology Solutions' Advanced Solutions Group. 1980s Leonard Cantrell 81A, 93GE, 01GE, completed the Doctor of Education degree at Spalding University. He is retired but occasionally does adjunct college teaching. 1950s Harold Bethea, 53A, a former UofL footballer, shared his 60th wedding anniver- sary with his wife, Betty, on Oct. 15. He is a retired teacher, coach and principal and lives in Valdosta, Ga. 1960s Howard Don Reda, 60A, and his wife of 43 years, Luz Mary, have two children, Liana and David. He is an active musician living in California's Bay area. Frank J. Murphy, 60GS, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta for his long-standing service and dedication to the Down Syndrome community. 1970s Leah Dickstein, 70MD, is 79 and still teaching and lecturing at Tufts in Boston and wherever she is invited, including for the American Psychiatric Association last May. John Brasch, 71S, is oversee- ing a total brand enhancement to Brasch + Barry General Contractors, Inc., now Brasch Contractors, Inc. John Miranda, 73B, was named the 2013 National Mem- bership Chair for the National Association of Homebuilders. Class Notes What's new? Tom Wimsett, 86B, recently launched Wimsett & Company, a merchant advocate and indepen- dent payments consulting fi rm. Tom has served on the Board of Advisors for the School of Business for over a decade and is involved with local civic and philanthropic organizations. R. Sean Allen, 89A, received the Readers Choice Award for best photographer in Naples, Florida. Sean Allen Photography specializes in landscape, wildlife and architectural photography. Kenneth Crawford, 87A, is pleased to see some of his recent interior design work appear as the cover story in a recent issue of the quarterly magazine Florida Design. Owens 79A, 07GA, received the Hazel King Lifetime Achievement Award from Kentuckians For The Commonwealth (KFTC) for commit- ting his life to the service of others and working for social justice.
