Endowed chair to focus on Jewish studies A national search will begin this year for a scholar to fi ll the new Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence Chair in Judaic Studies. Offi cials announced last fall that the Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence's $1.15 million gift marked the fi nal piece needed to create the position within the College of Arts and Sciences' Division of Humanities. An initial $500,000 gift from the Jewish Community Federation (now Jewish Com- munity of Louisville) in 2005 was matched by Bucks for Brains funds. UofL added $350,000 from a $25 million gift from the late Owsley Brown Frazier, and local donors added $56,000. MISSIONS MAY CHANGE, BUT OUR COMMITMENT NEVER WILL.
