A L U M N I Peter W. Trzop, 96A, 99GA, has been named the seventh executive director of the Department of Kentucky American Legion Boys State. He also was appointed as the director and chairman of the public relations committee, and director and chairman of Legislative Committee and recently returned from the first Legion Overseas Deployment. 2000s Kenneth R. Betts, 08A, 11GA, took a position as the Louisville Metro Police Department's health and safety officer. Betts also finished course work at Spalding University for his EdD degree. Melissa D. Foltz, 02N, 07GN, 09GN is an assistant professor at Emory University Nell Hodgson School of Nursing in Atlanta. Foltz relocated from Cleveland, Ohio, where she just completed a four-year National Institutes of Health KL2 Career Development Award through the CTSC at Case Western Reserve University and The Cleveland Clinic. In her new position at Emory University, Foltz will continue her research focused on improving the mental health outcomes of adolescents and emerging adults using technologically based interventions. Kara D. LarkanSkinner, 03GA, was named director of institutional research at Our Lady of the Lake University, a private, Catholic university, in San Antonio, Texas. Her responsibilities include oversight of all institutional data reporting, ensuring compliance with accrediting agencies and ensuring institutional effectiveness. Michael A. Lindenberger, 03A, 06L, has accepted a new position as the government and financial correspondent for The Dallas Morning News' Washington Bureau, following the completion of a Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University in June. His new beat will include tracking influence, exploring the intersection of government and Texas business interests in Congress within regulatory agencies, in the tax code and across the legal system. Center. 2010s Jocelyn G. Sutphin, 12E, a former UofL cheerleader, has gone from wearing dancewear clothing to making it, starting her own company, GLO Dancewear, in December 2012. Adopted Alumni John P. Hackett, AD, a member of the UofL Board of Overseers and mid-south division president of Kroger, is retiring after 50 years of service at the grocery store giant. Hackett began his career as a store clerk, working his way through college in 1963, and becoming division president in 1990. During his 29 years in Louisville, the division grew from 55 stores to 161, pioneered self-checkout, opened the company's first Kroger fuel station and led an associate safety initiative that reduced accidents by 70 percent. Hackett is a board member emeritus for the Dare to Care Food Bank, as well as serving as a trustee for the Louisville Urban League, the Louisville Economic Development Association and the Metropolitan College Steering Committee.
